Liga Skromane was found dead at Vazhamuttam near Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday
Ilzie Skromane, the sister of Latvian woman Liga Skromane, who was found dead at Vazhamuttam near Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday, said Liga would not commit suicide and that her death was a case of murder.
Speaking at a Press conference here, Ilzie said she was firm on her earlier statement that Liga’s death was not a natural one. Circumstantial evidence point fingers at murder, she added.
Stating that her sister would not commit suicide on any circustances,Ilzie said Liga cannot reach the place alone where her body was found. “Somebody must have taken her there.

How did Liga, who had not heard about Kovalam beach at all, reach a place six kilometres away from Kovalam on her first visit to India?” Ilze asked. Blaming lethargy on the part of police, she said the police investigation was not in the right direction in the beginning.
“First when we approached the DGP, he didn’t take our complaint seriously. The police could have found Liga, if they conducted a proper probe immediately after she went missing.” She said, adding that “Even though we tried to meet the Kerala chief minister, it did not materialize.”
Ilzie said that she is going to fight the case strongly to ensure that nobody should suffer the bad experience that Liga had to undergo here.
“I will fight till the suspicions are cleared over her death. The help of the Embassy and the Latvian government will be sought on the issue,” she said, adding that she has decided to conduct a detailed examination after taking the body to Latvia.
In this connection, state police chief, LoknathBehera has said on Monday that the mystery surrounding the death of Latvian woman should be cleared and truth will be brought out.
Meanwhile, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has alleged that there has been terrible lapse on the part of Kerala police in investigating the missing case of the foreigner lady Liga, who was later found dead.
He said that the police gave a very irresponsible reply to Liga’s sister and husband by saying that she would just return after some days.
The highly decomposed body of Liga Skromane, who was reported missing since 14 March, was found with her head separated at Vazhamuttam near Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.
Liga Skromane had come to Kerala along with her sister Ilzie for ayurvedic treatment at a hospital in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram.
